Windows 98 to ME networking problem

I have cable modem, but my ISP assigns a static IP address to me. Everything works fine, but when I upgrade to Windows ME, I cannot get on the network at all. I tried a different NIC card. I even called the ISP, but they do not support Windows ME yet.(great.). I have since gone back down to Windows 98 because of this. Anyone else had the same experience?

Check all your DNS configurations. Check your Winsock file.
