Does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade a computer from Win 95 to Win 98 with a full version of Win 98? When I try it says I need the upgrade version, but it seems like this should be able to be bypassed.

If you have the retail full version, I thought it would let you do that? Maybe it's just me :)

I would say that you are probably going to have to do a format of your hard-drive by going into to DOS and typing format C: or whatever letter of the drive containing Windows 95.

Then put in your Win 98 boot disk and CD and restart and the proceed to install Windows.

It can get hairy doing this, but usually a clean install is a much better choice than performing an upgrade from another version. Good luck.

Rename Win.com to Win.old. Boot to the Win '98 CD and run setup from the Compact disc.
I've never accomplished this workaround but I'm told it will work???
