How difficult is it to upgrade from 98se to Windows 2000. What do I have to worry about and watch out for. Can anyone give me advice on this.

It's pretty easy actually. Slip in the Win2K CD and choose "Upgrade."

However, I suggest you do a clean install, ie. wiping out all data then fresh-instaling Win2K. Windows seems to function better if done that way.

Yeah, an upgrade is a bad way to go.
Especially if you've never used it before. Backup everything. However you possibly can.

Wipe, and install. Windows is like inserting a suppository.

Rich is the nation that has many war heroes. Long since forgotten...

You would be wise to uninstall and later reinstall any hardware-related software. Such as 3com nic drivers, creative sound card "control panel" software, anti-virus software etc.

Please Please format, otherwise you're gonna hate 2k. You're gonn keep asking yourself, why is this OS so unstable, why is it so slow, why don't certian drivers and programs work, why does it suck.

It's like painting. Scrape off the old paint, then apply the new coat. Don't paint over paint that's already chipping. Won't last and it'll look terrible.

Unless you format, you will not take advantage of all that 2K has to offer.

Good luck with the transition
