Windows Activation...

I have 4 computers now (3 desktops, 1 laptop) and I run windows xp on all of them. I have legitimate copies of the software though but I tend to format a lot when I dont like all the info I have on my computers. Now That I built my last computer I cant activate it because it say's I've used my install key too many times. Will this mean I have to actually go out and buy a third copy of xp? It seems a bit obsurd that I have to buy 200 dollar copies just cause I like having more than 1 computer in my house for family to use.

Legally speaking, you MUST purchase one copy of Win XP per computer. It has always been this way.

You can use one key for both a desktop and a laptop. Not two desktops.

After that you should have called MS for additional keys, for which they would have given you a 15% discount for each key you need.

So i've been doing it wrong from the get go. Gotcha. I'll have to fix that.
