Hello, I just built myself a new system and I'm getting some pretty intense lag/stuttering if I use any of the windows aero peek features.
First of all, my system specs are:
Processor: I7 6700k @4.00GHz
RAM: 16 GB DDR4 3000
Graphics: EVGA 980ti hybrid
MB: ASUS Maximus VIII Hero
OS: 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO 120GB for OS and program files
WD Blue 1TB HDD for data
I'm getting a whole lot of image stuttering after I choose which window to maximize from the taskbar or if I hover over the "Show Desktop" button at the bottom right corner of the screen. It seems like windows is running out of resources to run aero, but that can't be the case. I've checked the system performance in the task manager before and after causing this stuttering problem; at idle and under load; and both processor use and ram use are the same before and after initiating the problem.
After about a minute of everything running really slowly, a window opens asking if I'd like to disable aero effects to improve performance, which fixes the issue. Logging out of the current user or restarting the computer also temporarily fixes the issue, although it returns whenever I use any of the aero features.
I've tried updating graphics card drivers and running the aero effects troubleshooter. I've stopped and restarted the uxsms service, which interestingly enough causes the problem to return. I've run the windows system experience index assessment, which shows a 7.8/7.9. I've tried a clean boot, which was unsuccessful at preventing the issue.
I am going out of my mind trying to get this fixed.
Surely there's a better fix than running my computer without Aero effects, which is what I'm doing now for my sanity's sake.
Thanks in advance for your help.
