Hey Guys,

For the last 4 years, my computer has given me the option to "safely eject" my boot drive.

It's a homebuilt computer with 1 boot drive and 2 storage drives. I do not have the option to safely eject either of the storage drives (which is good).

This has been an issue since the beginning, in Windows 7, 8.1, and now 10.

Obviously, this isn't a huge problem - and so far, I have yet to eject my boot drive by accident. However, I would like it if I didn't have to be so careful every time I went to eject a USB or SD card.

Goal: Remove my boot drive from that menu

My System:

Windows 10 Pro
Intel i7-2600 (CPU)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti (PSU)
ASUS P8 Z68-V Pro (Motherboard)
16GB RAM
500GB Samsung EVO SSD (Boot Drive)
3TB (Storage Drive)
1TB (storage Drive)
750W PSU

If you need any additional details about my system, I'd be happy to provide them.

Thanks for reading!

you have to go into bios and disable a feature that allows you to eject the storage device;

I forget what it's called, but it's 100% in the bios. had the same issue as you

Do you mean Hot Swapping/Hot Plugging? That sounds like it could be it.

To check, according to your mobo manual, in your BIOS, go to the Advanced tab > SATA configuration. Make sure "Hot Plug" is Disabled for that drive.

Unless you've already tried that.
