Hi,
I currently have windows 7 home premium on my system. I earlier realized that on my installation disk there is also windows 7 ultimate. In windows anytime upgrade, there is only the option to enter my key, or buy a new one. Do i use the same key that i used for installing my current installation of home premium, or would i need to buy a new one? and no files will be erased, correct? Thanks

Windows 7 Home Premium gives you virtually everything you need for home use - the professional and ultimate editions of Windows 7 give you features like the ability to join a domain (this is for a work environment - you must have a server to connect to) or the ability to have remote desktop setup....(there are other features - but 99% of them aren't used by home users). See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7_editions for details.

If you want to purchase, you will need to "buy a new one". If it works like Windows 8 upgrades, you will go to the Windows store and purchase the new key. It should leave your system intact.
