Windows Audio Needs Constant Restarting

Having an issue for a while now, where i have to restart windows audio whenever i start a new video, or a new video starts in a playlist, or when watching a video on youtube. Obviously incredibly irritating, no idea what is causing it.

And i have no idea why i capitalised the title.

Check your audio devices are working and have the latest drivers in Control Panel, Device Manager.

Different movies and audio tracks can have their own levels recorded differently.

Is this through headphones or speakers or both?

Through speakers. Have done all the checks on the audio devices, all seems up to date.

Often does it when going from file to file that i am 100% sure are the same format.

Also, when it does this on a streaming site, youtube for example, the video will try and play, then i'll get an error message saying it cannot play, rather than simply playing without sound (which is what video files do).

Always shows as 'Running' in task manager. even when i am getting no sound and need to restart. And equally, a restart ALWAYS gets sound back again.

Double check your speakers and connections. Borrow and try other speakers.

Oh, sorry this is my bad. It's through the laptop speakers, no external device plugged in.
