Windows background update, Turned off PC

Hey,
So today I noticed that my drive and CPU where being used slightly, Turns out this was an update being downloaded in the background. I had to turn my PC off, So I did. Is this bad?

It is fine as long as it wasn't during the upgrade where it said do not turn off the pc.

Windows Update/Upgrades use the BITS service to trickle downloads and then it verifies to ensure no corrupt parts, so you can switch on and off as many times as you like and it should recover.
