windows black screen cursor

windows updates ran ,now have black screen and cursor can only get into boot menu or bios ,says it will auto load drivers but just goes back to black screen and cursor

Uhm sounds like your HD went 'boom'. Can you access the BIOS and see if it sees the HD? Can you (right after you see the BIOS screen) start tapping F8 and see if you can get in the Safe mode? If not, but you can see the HD in BIOS, put your Windows DVD in the Drive and see if you can repair it? If it won't repair only install, sorry but you totally lost everything. If you reinstall and it fails - errors on the reinstall then your HD is bad and would need to be replaced ($129?) or just get a new system (Walmart desktop/laptop $300).
