Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has mbr partition table. On efi systems, windows can only be installed to gpt disks.
I just got a new motherboard, asus crosshair v formula z, and an old ssd and am trying to install windows on it and that message comes up.
Any help?

Solution
Delete all volumes on the existing disk.

UEFI systems only need to use GPT when partition size exceeds 2.2 TB.

When faced with a stubborn SSD from an old system, I use one of these and connect it to a existing working system via USB

I'll full format it .... if still giving me trouble will delete volume. On occasion I have had to run diskpart to restore functionality

Since your trying to install Windows, I'm guessing you don't need to salvage any data and are fine with just wiping the drive.

If that's true, then like JackNaylorPE said, it's easiest to just delete all partitions on the drive. You really shouldn't need to buy any special hardware for this though. Just download a GParted Live CD or any Linux live CD that has GParted on it (Ubuntu and Linux Mint are both good, easy to use options). The linux live CDs have the added benefit of letting you access and pull data off of the drive before deleting partitions. Boot the live CD, run GParted, find your disk in the GUI, and delete all partitions.

If the Windows installer is still giving you trouble after that you can try zeroing out the drive using DBAN. Zeroing out the drive will take longer, but it will put your drive in a like new state.

Thanks so much! Greatly appreciated!

I only use it in stubborn situations when all else fails. Never bought one for this purpose as I have 4 already. Always one in my toolbox. Primary use it to create off-site backups as an on site back up is kind of an oxymoron. If the puter goes up in smoke or there's a fire, an internal HD left on site is gone too. Best $22 I ever spent :)
