Okay, so I'm having an issue that is bothering me intensely. I work as an IT so I would say I know my way around a computer pretty well.
Here it is. I set a computer up for a family member it's an HP running Windows 7 pretty sure it was manufactured in 2011.
I reinstalled windows because it was used by someone previously. I set everything up and I was getting really slow load times constant freezing. I figured it was a bad hard drive so I replaced it with a brand new one, reinstalled windows set everything up and I'm getting the same issues. Lots of freezing, read/write speeds seems faster but isn't an issue. Now I'm also getting occasional power offs.
I've ran multiple hardware diags, defragged the hard drive, looked for viruses, ran extensive memory tests, checked the motherboard (Side note, I got a "no response" from a few portions on the keyboard controller but couldn't imagine this could be causing anything serious) anything I could possibly do. I was looking in the case and saw there were three sticks of RAM on a dual channel board. The problem is I know no one added this RAM it wasn't me and the previous owner was computer illiterate. It booted and ran pretty normal besides the freezing (Which is pretty constant and pretty random, will freeze under a heavy and a light load) I'm pretty sure you can use that third stick without any actual problems? All of the RAM is the same brand same size. I removed the third stick of RAM to see if it would fix it but haven't had time to test it out yet to see if it has fixed anything. Also getting some random power offs here and there. Not sure if this could have been the RAM or just a faulty power supply, if I keep getting the power offs I'll replace the power supply.
Any help or comments are greatly appreciated, this has literally been plaguing my life for the past 3 weeks.
Sorry for the novel just wanted to be clear with everything.

EDIT:
Directly after posting this the computer froze, so removing the stick did not help. Just web browsing nothing else open in the background.
