I built my gaming PC a few years back and I realized it's long overdue for a reformat. In fact, this is the first time the PC in question has been reformatted. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium (OEM). I put the disc in, boot from disc, and went through all the steps to format my HDD and do a clean install.
After it goes through the installation process, the computer restarts, I get the Starting Windows screen, then it says "Setup is updating registry settings." Then it goes to a new screen saying "Setup is starting services," then I get the error "Windows could not finish configuring the system. To attempt to resume configuration, restart the computer."
Every time I restart the computer, the process repeats and I end up at the same place. I've started the reformatting process over twice and keep coming to this roadblock.
Is this an issue that I can solve without having to buy a new HDD?
