Windows delayed write failed

Pop up note says, "Windows was unable to save data for the file F:\$Mft. The data has been lost." Seagate 500 GB Free Agent Desk. My operating system is Windows XP, Version 2002, Service Pack 3

It sounds like this is an external drive? You get this message if the connection to the drive is disrupted while the system is trying to write data to it. Sometimes this is no more than a loose or poorly connected USB cable.

If you continue to have this kind of problem then I'd consider replacing the cable.
