Last night I was working on my Windows 7 PC when it crashed. I got the bluescreen and the PC tried to reboot.

The PC then went into a loop, giving me the option to restore/repair my system.

I tried this 3 times but it didnt fix the problem.

I shut the PC down for a few minutes and when I restarted it I got the following message "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"

I figured the HD (SSD) was dead so I tested it in another PC and it works fine.

All my data is there except for the Windows directory, which seems to have gone.

All I have now is an empty $WINDOWS.~BT directory.

Anyone any ideas as to what may have caused this?

I am currently backing up all my data off that drive and I plan to reformat it once I have completed this, but I am curious as to what could completely delete a WIndows system directory.

Thanks for any ideas

Thanks for your reply. I checked the SSD health using the Samsung software provided and it says the drive is good. No errors.

I have since backed up all the data from that drive just in case.

The Windows directory has gone and I have no idea what happened to it.

All the other directories are still there, including the photo and video libraries, downloads etc.
