Hello and thank you in advance!

I apologize, I'm not at home so don't have the details of my computer. Just hoping someone can give me advice.

My PC is running windows 7. I was using my PC yesterday and I got a BSOD. I haven't added any new components to the PC in over a year. I was running Firefox, and may have had too many tabs open. Anyways, the BSOD occurred. I rebooted and after the windows logo came up, another BSOD. I tried running startup repair, and it said it was unable to fix anything. After looking at my hard drives using a command prompt, I noticed that my Operating Drive (C) was empty.

For some reason, my C drive, is now showing up as my E drive, so I can see the folders and everything. I ran CHKDSK and it found no errors. I tried fixing the Master Boot Record and having it boot to E, but no luck. I tried to start the PC in safemode, but it gets stuck loading the Classpnp.sys file. Lastly I tried the SCANNOW command using C as my drive, and and it said Windows Resource Protection isn't working. I tried it using E as my drive, and it said it did not find any violations.

Is there anything else I can try, before trying to run a repair installation off of a windows disc?

Sorry for not mentioning it earlier, but you should definitely backup all the important data before you proceed with a fresh install and/or Win repair. Since the OS is so messed up I'd suggest a clean install, which would require you to reformat the drive and just install the OS from scratch. After that you'll have to setup and install everything again - programs, drivers, etc. and it would probably be a tedious process, but this should fix things up for sure.
Of course you could always try repairing the installation, but the data backup is really recommended either way.

Thank you Boogieman_WD. I've seen conflicting reports. Will doing a fresh install erase my C Drive files, if thats even possible since they are now listed on the E drive.
