Hello everyone, I am having an issue with my hard drive that is confusing the hell out of me. I was moving some files around, uninstalling some games and whatever. So I moved my ample movie and music collection over to another disk, and free up enough space that I should be under 100 gb, right? Well, windows in displaying that I have like 700 free of 920, which is off by over 100.

Tonight I've run windows disk cleanup, CCleaner, defragged (even though I do it weekly), restarted about 50 times and manually checked each directory, as well as checked with WinDirStat. Both methods reported under 100 gigs, but still windows persists in saying over 200. AVG is not reporting any anomalies.

Now, this is where my knowledge ends (I'm sorta a noob :(), and I'm totally perplexed. I have no idea what could be taking up that space, and I need some help.

Thanks for any responses, I appreciate them.

Also, here are some pics of my windirstat and windows drive properties:

You mean the "Free space 748,000,000,000 bytes 696 GB?

1 human GB = 1X10^12 bytes or 1,000,000,000,000

1 computer GB = 1X2^30 or 1,073,741,824 bytes.

Manufacturer's use human gigabytes because that makes their hard drives look a little bigger. Then computers use "computer gigabytes" and you wonder where all the space went.
