I wasn't sure where to post, but I think it is software-related and not a motherboard issue. I am running Win 7 and whenever I plug a device into a USB port it does not seem to automatically get "picked up" by Windows.
For example, if I plug in a memory stick it is not listed under "Removable Storage". However, if I reboot the system with the USB stick plugged in it recognizes it just fine and I can use it normally. This is also true for my Kindle.
This wasn't always the case, it just started happening a few months ago.
When I right click on "Computer" and select "Manage", then choose "Disk Management" it is also not listed.
Some system details:
Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H Desktop Motherboard - Intel Z87 Express Chipset- LGA-1150
Intel Core i7-4770K Quad-Core Desktop Processor 3.5 GHZ 8 MB Cache
16GB of RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Any help to solve this annoyance would be appreciated.
