I changed PC recently. I had 2TB Seagate SATA drive that I connected with USB to my PC. MyPc doesnt show it at all, and the COMPUTER MANAGEMENT only shows this - changing the disk letter doesnt change anything. The files arent being shown. In device manager the disk is shown as ASM105x. I have Win10.

PS. I just tried SeaTools app and it doesnt show the drive either.

please see image here DP image here how it looks in devices&printers

in disk partition it is showing as under E: letter and 0B NO MEDIA.

Misleading/incorrect marketing text.

That will NOT work with a 3.5" desktop HDD.
That drive requires both 5v and 12v power. Which cannot be supplied via USB only.

An SSD would work, and most (but not all) 2.5" laptop size HDD.

You need something that also gets plugged into the wall.
A USB-SATA dock:

(i have one of these)

Or a different cable arrangement:

(i have a slightly different version of this)

this is a completely new desktop PC.

I had to change it as it wasnt possible to get a power supply for a previous one.
So I bought new one. And I simply took away SATA HDD from old PC (2016 old), bought SATA USB cable and here I am. I tried everything :(

but windows says this driver IS installed.

what do you mean by what is connected now?

SEAGATE 2TB desktop HDD
7200 rpm firmware CC26

Cable is brand new 9pin 2.5'' SATA to USB 3.0 /w UASP

I tried everything.
As per screenshots, you can see that in some places the disk is visible but is showing as ''no media'' / empty and I cannot access it. DMDE (Disk Editor and Data Recovery Software) app also sees it but gives me the ''unable to open disk'' message and I cannot do anything.

Also, I heard that someone was able to change jumper on the disk to ''cable'' but on this disk theres no jumper.

only as small 4 pin connector thats left without description.

one last thing - when I was removing the HDD from old PC case, there were no other cables attached just the SATA one ... does this mean there was more voltage supplied through the motherboard and thats why it did not required anything else but it does when connected externally?......
No, that only means that someone had already disconnected the power. Desktop drives always require two connections:

  1. Power
  2. Data

I will try this

would this one be ok?
There were absolutely 2 cables connected.
data and power.

Would that particular thing work? It says it does, but I have no experience with that one.
