Windows double document files

I read this thread and have a question. I have a 30 gig hard drive. i have 4G Windows. 8G doc files. 4G program files, And about 3G various other files. Rough number. But I only have 3 G free on my hardrive. BUT I do have another duplicate Doc file that also contains 8 G dup of my Personal Doc file. So help me understand how the doc files are supposedly the same. I need some space and don't see the need for dupe doc files.

backup your personal files to DVD or what ever and erase the duplicate files.

Just realized I hadn't replied to the original thread like I thought. In that thread they were saying the duplicates were another door to the same file. But Examining everything I can find its the only thing that explains so much disk usage.
