Can't open USMT2.UNC file in Windows Easy Transfer to get files from external drive on to new PC with Windows Pro.

Did you run the Windows 7 version of Easy Transfer on the XP PC? You have to run the newest version on both PC's. You can download East Transfer software from Microsoft.

I downloaded the latest version of Easy Transfer for XP on the old XP PC. I downloaded the newest version of Easy Transfer for Windows 7 Pro for the new PC running Windows 7 Pro.

I haven't used Easy transfer for a while but I had problems running the version on each PC. You need to use the same version on both PC's.
