I have been having this error while trying to install audio software. (Virtual DJ, Abelton Live 9) I can install and play literally any other program just fine but if it has to do with anything audio related I get this error message. I have tried every single method to "fix" this error out there that I can find. (Reinstall directx, .netframework, replace all xinput.dll, run program as admin, run dskchk, reinstall C++ packs, compatibility mode, replacing windows .dll in safe mode). The only thing I have not done is a clean install of windows 7 because I lost the install disk. I do not want to upgrade to windows 10 yet, but I think I may have to if it fixes the error?

Please anyone have any solution?

Edit: Updating to Windows 10 resulted in the same error.

This is a very common error that sometimes occurs when trying to run some DirectX games or applications. It occurs when a 32-bit application is trying to interact with 64-bit system environment. Although Windows XP may sometimes returns a similar error, it most commonly happens in Windows 7 64-bit.

Try running your program in compatibility mode for Windows XP. Although this feature is for programs that were originally designed for Windows XP, it is known that it can also help repairing errors caused by a newer software. Right click on your application and choose Properties from a right-click menu, go to Compatibility tab and select compatibility mode for Windows XP.

If that doesn't work, i guess performing a clean installation of Windows 7 should do the trick. Make sure it is a x64 bit OS.

I really appreciate your help. I have already tried compatibility mode and I am hoping I do not have to do a clean install, however it is looking like that is my only solution at this point.
