Windows Explorer, Games, and Chome freezing randomly

My partner has recently bought a brand new gaming PC which has had a few little niggling issues on and off, but a few days ago it has started to randomly freeze. The computer has had a few inconsistent issues for a while, like spots of lag while just using Chrome, and rarely it would not power down properly, but reinstalling Windows 10 seemed to fix the problems until now.

Anywhere between 10 minutes to 3-4 hours into using the computer it will freeze with no apparent connection to the amount of load it is under, whether transferring files or playing Stardew Valley, doesn't matter. I can still see resource monitor working away and I can move the mouse, but no apps respond, and I can't open anything (not even the start menu).

I've tried a few things, but no luck so far:

  • Reinstalled Windows 10
    Did a system memory diagnostic
Did sfc /scannow in command prompt
    Reinstalled GPU drivers
I also don't think it'd be a power issue since we've got a 650w PSU, but I could be wrong. Any help would be appreciated. Specs are

  • Windows 10 Home
    Intel Core i5 8400
    MSI B360 GAMING ARCTIC
    Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB @2400MHz
    ASUS GTX 1060 DUAL OC
    Coolermaster V650 80+ Gold PSU
    Seagate 2TB HDD
    Samsung 128GB SSD
