NT Workstation 4.0 with Novell networking.
When I startup, Windows Explorer or a Browser in any application works OK.
After a few minutes operation though, when I open a Windows Explorer, the left mapping
window only reads down to CD drive (drive D). The window will then not close, unless
the End Task box is pressed after Task List dialogue box appears.
Also, after about a minute, Explorer finally functions correctly.
If a Browser window is opened in an application, it will navigate using the 'Up Level' button,
but behaves in the same way when the 'drop down arrow' is selected to navigate directly to
target folder, i.e. the box will hang momentarily before displaying the current folder position,
and drop down 'tree', after about 30 seconds.

Anybody help?

I've experienced the same thing and discovered it to be
caused by either a hard drive which is marginal (about to
fail) which means it takes a long time for it to locate
data. The other possible cause are folders containing an
excessive number of files - several thousand. Each time a
new folder is opened Explorer has to read each directory
entry and calculate a count of the number of files. If
there are several thousand files then this operation could
take quite some time. If not all of those files are
actively used, then it may be best to move them to a new
folder.
