Windows feature update caused my mic to stop working

Tested my mic on other devices and it still works, tested it with cortana on the updated PC and she can hear me.

Why is the mic not being picked up through the recording device screen or any other app?

Yes I have enabled the PC to use the mic in other apps, here is a screenshot showing I have it selected https://i.imgur.com/pP58S4n.png

This seems to be a common issue with the 1803 update. It seems like Windows messes with the audio drivers. Does manually re-installing the audio driver fix the problem for you (it did fix that problem for a mate)? What is the brand and the name of your mainboard? You can probably grab a compatible driver at the support page.
