I was looking at purchasing Windows 10 or 7 but was shocked when I saw the prices. Is there any way I can get them for free?

You either pay for it or run windows 10 unactivated with a watermark asking you to activate in the right corner forever.

Windows 10 can be installed without a cost, the limitations of using an unlicensed system does have some limitations but not many
I would get the windows 10 iso, grab RUFUS and make a bootable USB drive and install it.
