Hi all.

Encountering a weird problem after upgrading to the gtx1080.

On waking from ‘sleep’ mode the computer works for a few seconds – then freezes requiring hard reset.

Aside from this problem everything is working completely fine.

Not 100% sure that it’s related to the upgrade... potentially a coincidence. But it's the only thing I've changed that could be related.

nVidia Drivers are up to date.

System:

CPU – i7 2600K (at stock voltage OC to 4.2GHz)
CPU Cooler – CM Hyper 212
RAM – 8GB GSkill Ripjaws 1600MHz
GPU – Gigabyte gtx1080 G1 Gaming (No OC) – upgraded from Gigabyte gtx580
Mobo – Asus p8p67 pro
HDD – Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB
SSD – Intel 520 120GB (Boot Drive)
SSD – Samsung 850 EVO 500GB
PSU – Antec TP 750W
Display – Samsung SA950 (120MHz)
Case – CM 690 II
OS – Windows 7 64 Bit

Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

*Update*

It appears the situation is getting worse!

Now, 1 out of 3 times when I attempt to wake the computer up. It doesn't wake up.

Black screen.

Still hearing some fans spinning though?

Sorry for the necro.

Not really an answer but I also have the same issue with a similar setup like yours. Mine is a inno3d GTX 1080 x4 and recently I've been having to hard reset the system after it fails to wake up and show the display. Sometimes I have success by unplugging the monitor and plugging it back in. After upgrading from a GTX670 I'm quite disappointed as I always believed Nvidia were pretty reliable. And what is worse, you can't even really send it back for RMA as it's an intermittent fault. Hope you get some success soon. Try changing to a different display port. Have you also tried HDMI?
