Downloaded a video using shift-click, "save video as" and had it saved to a USB drive. I think I might not have opened it on that PC (desktop) before. I did play it on my laptop already though without any warning. The laptop does not currently have the latest update for security definitions.
Today, played same mp4 on the same USB drive on the desktop pc, and Windows gave me a warning about a potentially unwanted app. The report was: Program:Win32/Beareuws.A!ml and it pointed to the mp4 on the USB. I did a scan of my PC and found nothing, then did a scan of the USB and got the same warning.
I opened the mp4 in avidemux video editor and again Windows threw me the warning. Tried renaming it, and changing file extension, moving to desktop and reformatting the USB. Any time it was opened with either VLC media player or Avidemux editor windows would warn me.
Then I clipped a couple seconds off the video and saved a new copy, deleting the original. No more warnings, no threats found when scanning. Why was Windows identifying a video file as a potentially unwanted program? Doesn't make any sense.
