Hi there guys, i have a very peculiar problem here

i was trying to fix my friend's computer

Specs
dual core e6600
samsung 2gb ddr2 mem
320gb WD HDD
HP computer so i dont know the brand of the PSU and the MOBO

first the memory is bad so i replaced it with a new one

after that the system passed the POST so i tried installing windows on it

how ever im getting some errors and it wont get past the point where you choose a hard drive
so i tried installing the hardrive on another computer to install windows, it worked
then i put back the hard drive on the original computer then i has gone to the infinite loop
restarts at the windows logo, i can't even enter safe mode. i can see the menu but when it tries to load the files, the computer will restart

i even tried inserting my computer's OS drive there, but the problem is the same, restart at the windows logo and cant enter safe mode

i did the memtest and test on the hard drive, both passed

need help! thanks!

You cannot install Windows on another computer, move the HD over and expect the new computer to boot it. The installed drivers are different, Windows is not smart enough (or on purpose some people say) to ask for the correct drivers.

Compag computers, which HP bought, I remember, used to be PITA to maintain, they used to put in just enough customization that you cannot treat it like a generic PC.

I recommend restore machine to factory following HP's procedure to the T. Once u get that working, then you know the rest of the hardware is OK, THEN you can attempt to update Windows.
