WINDOWS INSTALLER could not be accessed

really frustrated. "windows installer cannot be accessed" but all the 'solutions' require the download and install of the fix. HELLO! can't install anything that's the problem!

Do you have Local Admin on that computer?

Once i had a similar problem like you have now, the windows installer was actually corrupt. I downloaded a new one i found on google and things got resolved. Then again it seems to me that you have permission problems here

thanks for that. it did help some because i tried both ways of finding windows installer and it seems it is missing. any idea how i can replace it?

windows vista home basic with SP2 on an ACER extensa 4230

I actually ended up calling microsoft and paying them $99 for remote repair. they downloaded a program (freeware no less!) that analyzed and repaired my windows. (tweaking.com)
took less than 20 minutes.... Fixed!
no more issues! and it took care of a couple other minor annoyances.
