Windows Installer keeps attempting to run and it is absolutely shredding my ram into pieces. It happens randomly, it'll start off using 4,000,000 K of memory before skyrocketing to well over 12,000,000 K memory within seconds. It completely locks up and freezes my computer and the only thing I can do is hold off the power switch to restart it.
I've already turned off all automatic updates for Windows yet this continues to happen on its own. Can anyone give me advice on how to deal with it?

That is your problem then. Its a basic service of Windows and you can't expect it to work right by trying to force it to work the way you want it.

You should call Microsoft customer service they may be sympathetic to you and unlock it. If not you need to go ahead and purchase a new key like the rest of us. That is the only way this problem is going to...
Its trying to install already downloaded updates. You should update everything and then see what happens.

This can be caused also by the fact that you crashed it in the middle of updating (by rebooting the computer like that) which then corrupts the update files.

You should Open File Explorer and go to View, Folder Options. Select the Show hidden files, button and click on Apply. Once THen go to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download and then delete the contents of the Download folder.

Then run all windows updates and let it finish right the first time.

The reason I haven't done those updates is because it doesn't consider my copy of Windows as genuine. I replaced my motherboard and cpu and it stopped recognizing it so anytime I update it gives me a million pop ups to purchase it even though it's a genuine copy that won't activate. I've left it running when it was frozen over night before and it was still frozen by morning.

That is the only way this problem is going to stop. And connecting to the internet without correcting these update issues is a HUGE security risk for you and your files.
