Windows installing extra mouse drivers when I plug in a USB mouse

I just got a new laptop which has a really annoying problem. Every time I plug in a USB mouse, it installs 3 new drivers under "Mice and other pointing devices." This totally screws up the mouse behavior. The mouse flickers and disappears and is just really finicky. It's pretty unbearable. If I uninstall the extra drivers, they still come back eventually. I've tried two different mice.

It doesn't matter what kind of mouse. I have a Logitech M705 which uses a USB dongle. When I plug in the USB dongle Windows automatically installs 3 mouse drivers. The same happens when I plug in an old corded USB mouse.

What I meant is that I get the same results regardless of what kind of mouse I plug in. That's all. Any mouse I plug in installs 3 drivers.

I am sorry, I could not find a single reference of 3 drivers loading , over and over each time you plug a mouse.
it is terribly off that windows would load and reload and reload driver each time you plug the mouse in the same usb port.
perhaps posting this query on the Lenovo forums?

Under the Device Manager, Mice and other pointing devices, there are three drivers all with the same name: HID-compliant mouse". These three drivers appear instantly when I plug in a USB mouse, either my wireless Logitech USB dongle, or a corded USB mouse. I can uninstall two of them so I have just one, but when I restart my computer, they reappear.

I believe this is what is causing very strange mouse behavior. If I uninstall the three drivers and just use the touchpad, everything works fine. As soon as those three drivers get installed, the mouse pointer starts to disappear, flicker, the mouse icon itself looks weird and different and is offset (doesn't appear to be in the location that it seems).

Thank you very much for your answer. Installing the OS is a bit overkill for me. I used this setup from day one but this problem started only a couple of weeks ago. I restored to earlier backups but no avail. May I ask whether you are using the usb mouse receiver on a usb hub or are you directly connecting it to the laptop's usb.

this might be a bit late, but try to find and manually install the latest driver for your particular mouse
