Windows is authentic but keeps saying it's not

Wasn't sure how to word the title... here's my issues.

Recently, I've been getting crashes, BSoDs, and Windows errors like it's nobody's business. Today was the first day that I booted up without 1 single problem (Hooray!). I did a clean boot, downloaded missing driver updates, windows updates. This led me to be able to boot like normal. When I did that, I did a virus scan, spyware, malware, and registry cleaner.

Now I am at this point: Whenever I boot, in the bottom right it says that Windows is not genuine. Something I've noticed is when I open the calculator, it brings up the "You may be a victim of software piracy" (or however it is phrased). So I click that, and run the legitcheck.hta and amazingly, it is no longer a pirated copy.

Prior to this, if I was to go to check if my Windows is verified in Computer > Properties, It would say that the service is unavailable, but after I run the legitcheck.hta, everything is fine.

Is there anything I can do so I don't have to run the legitcheck.hta every time I boot up?

- Also, big thanks to many members of this community. I wouldn't have gone from where I was to where I am without many of the solutions posted on these forums

Sounds like your install is pretty messed up. Might be worth considering a complete re-install. Could save you a lot of stress in the long run.

Worth checking your hard drive first though.

Open command prompt (run as admin) and type chkdsk /r c:
^Assuming your boot drive is C:

When it asks to schedule at next startup enter Y then reboot.
Should take just over an hour but depends on HDD size/speed.
So it got to 59%, then it said "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation."

Also, for a new wrench in the gears, when my pc boots up, it boots up with a completely back screen without icons, start menu, or cursor. When I bring up the task manager and end process on explorer.exe then add a process of explorer.exe it is fine... except still with the initial problem.

I finally got around to doing the complete reinstall and everything is working great. I'm so relieved it's not a hardware issue! g
