Hello, Tomshardware, first I'd like to say thank you to anyone who might be any help here :) And if not, thank you for checking out the thread anyway.

Over the last half year, my computer has been randomly loading something at random intervals, it shows up with the cursor with the spinning pinwheel next to it. It really worries me that this might be some virus, I have searched a ton of websites, and I have never seen anything alike it. As I am typing now it is loading every 5 seconds or so, for 5 seconds. Its really weird and it worries me. The intervals seem to change a bit, sometimes its very often, other times its not.

I have made several system scans with AVG, found nothing. Do you guys know if I can somehow check what processes run in those intervals? I would think it would be hard to catch, but if any of you know some trick?

Thank you all a bunch in advance, it really means something!

Can you give us a list of all running programs on your computer at the time?

Also I personally feel AVG sucks. I'd rather use anything else, malware bytes, avast, windows defender..

Thank you all for the fast replies, I will try and install AVG right now and try malware bytes, the free version will do right?

I don't think it has anything to do with low ram, I have 16 gigs and I never even reach 10.

Ill post back when I have made a scan or something alike, with the malwarebytes. Again thanks for the responses :)

How would I go about getting such a list? I think there are a lot of programs running, is the some way to export the running processes to a text document?

If you start the taskmanager and goto the processes tab an click on the cpu column. That will sort the running processes by cpu usage. Normally the idle process should be the top process. Place the window somewhere on your screen, where you can see the top process, when your "loading problem" happens. The process, that causes the problem, should be one of the first two.
And by the way: Any errors in event viewer? Timeouts? read/write errors? crashed processes?

There may also a task that keeps trying to complete. Go to task scheduler (type into the search) and see what is in there and stop the tasks from starting. Go through all the list including Microsoft maintenance ect.

Thank you all for the replies! it seems it is fixed now, with a virus being removed, sadly AVG never picked it up, its been on my computer for half a year now, hope its not too bad. Thank you all for the help, I appreciate it.!

I had this issue. No virus, windows just wouldn't update on its own and needed to be done manually. Thanks for the suggestion.

Which program did you end up going with that actually found the virus?
