Windows Key reuse

I owned an acer x3990 desktop but sadly it is beyond economical repair and i decided to go for a new desktop. Can i reuse my windows product key from the x3990?

Anything from Acer is bound to have problems, Acer is not a company known for quality. HP at least has half way decent business products and high-end enterprise products. Acer is just trash.

If it's an OEM copy of Windows (that will be the case if it came with the laptop) the answer is no for Windows 7, and "I have no idea" for Windows 8. If it is a retail copy of Windows that you purchased from a store, then the answer is yes.

Oh.. Ya, its already installed when I bought the pc which I never have a retail one. So in this case my windows 7 is useless?
How sad, I wonder why Acer products always has mother board problems.. this is my second experience having a broken MB from Acer.

Well guys, can you make some suggestion for a reliable desktop brands? and thanks for the feedback
