I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Recently I started getting an error message on every boot: "There was a problem that caused parts of the windows live id sign-in assistant to be disabled." I have tried to install the correct version 6.5 for Windows 7 according to the Microsoft website. (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=15106) When I try to install this version, I get an error message telling me that a newer version is already installed. I have tried to uninstall the newer version (maybe incorrect version 7.0 for XP
) but there is absolutely no entry in the Control Panel's "Programs and Features" for me to uninstall the Microsoft windows live id sign-in assistant. I have checked with my Revo Uninstaller Pro software and likewise there is no entry to remove the assistant. I have checked services.msc and again that service does not show up as being there. I uninstalled ALL windows essentials, rebooted, and then was able to install the correct version 6.5 of sign-in assistant as noted by Microsoft. I then reinstalled all of windows essentials 2012 and rebooted. I am back now to the original error message: "There was a problem that caused parts of the windows live id sign-in assistant to be disabled." I may just live with the error message each time I reboot as long as my mail is working correctly! I am not a newbie but I am stumped. Can someone please help me? Thank you.
