Windows live mail

I cannot connect to windows live mail after I changed the pop and the smpt and ports. Help!
I did this because i could not send messages! Mt gmail is connected to windows live and I think the settings have to be different. I cannot explain myself well because I can't even connect to windows live mail even though I am connected to the internet!

These are the default settings for Windows Live and Hotmail pop3 configurations.

POP server: pop3.live.com
POP server port: 995
POP SSL required? Yes
User name: Your Windows Live ID, for example yourname@hotmail.com
Password: The password you usually use to sign in to Hotmail or Windows Live
SMTP server: smtp.live.com
SMTP server port: 25 or 587
SMTP Authentication required? Yes (same as POP3 username and password)
SMTP SSL required? Yes

gmail uses a slightly different method
