I have upgraded from a 24" to a 27" monitor and windows looks fuzzy/distorted at the monitors native resolution (2560x1440). I have looked around on forums and cannot find anything that works. I don't know whether it is the cable or my GPU or what.

BenQ GW2765HT, AMD HD 6800 and windows 10.

UPDATE: When I set windows to the monitors native resolution (2560x1440) the monitor says its displaying at 1280x1440 ? What does this mean ?
Please help!

OK. Seems you could be right on that series not support that particular resolution. Just to be sure, your DVI cable itself is a dual link cable? Do you have a displayport output on your GPU to test? The version HDMI that your card has won't go to native resolution either.

I have tried resetting the monitor and updating the drivers etc, i'm wondering if my gpu is just too old...Its 4 years old now and maybe I need to buy a new one.

What cable are you using? VGA, DVI, HDMI? Also, you may want to check if your series GPU supports 2560 x 1440P. If Windows says your running at 1280 x 1440, this by itself explains the fuzzy picture, its only half the width pixel-wise it should be. Also, does the correct model number monitor show up in device manager?

Running a dvi dual link so that's not the problem, if I'm honest I think it's the gpu it's 4 years old and from what I could see they probably don't support it.
