windows media player burning

no . it does not burn by itself.wat i want to know is if there is a way to stop media player itself from burning without affecting the drive burning in any other program like nero for example.thanks.

Why?

If it's not burning all on it's own, what exactly is the problem? The only thing I can suggest is to look on Microsoft's KB and see if there is a way to remove the burning plug-in.

well.i have a cousin who keeps burning in my burner.and i want to stop him by blocking media player because that's the only thing he knows how to burn with.so i want to stop him from burning without stoping him from using the pc.plus i don't want different user names on the pc.so that's why.what is microsoft's KB ? so i can try what u told me and see if it works.

If you go into options in Windows Media Player, you'll see a tab labeled devices. Highlight your DVD player and click on options. In the drive properties window, click on the recording tab. Uncheck "Enable CD recording on this drive."

I'm not sure about NERO, but this caused problems with Adaptec recording software at one point. Give it a try and see if that does the trick for you...

Microsoft KB = Microsoft Knowledge Base.

I just thought of something else... you could try disabling the CD burning service (Start, Run then type services.msc and hit enter). WMP 10 may require this service in order to burn CDs, but since I've never used it to burn CDs, I'm not sure.
