windows media player color problem

Recently when i use windows media player to watch recorded game play, the colors appear negative. I first thought there was something wrong with my recording software, so i un/re installed it. That didn't fix the colors, so i tried watching a regular mp4 to see if the problem persisted: it did. It's hard to pinpoint exactly when this started, but i first noticed it about a week ago. I don't like vlc, and would really like to get wmp sorted. Any ideas?

My new monitor came in today and the negative colors are gone.

Sounds more like a graphics driver error. Happen to have nvidia? They have 8bit vs 10bit issues every once in a while. Most likely the new monitor supports the color data whereas the old one didn't, or you just happened to upgrade the drivers by chance.

Yeah, i have a 970 , but the most recent driver update i did was after the problem occurred. Color bit was most likely the source, but i was thrown off by the fact that still pictures looked normal.
