Windows Media Player Micro Freezing

Lately WMP is giving some small hic ups i changed computers not sure if with my new fx 8000 series amd build is the issue. It plays video smoothly and after 20 or 30 minutes the video lags including audio and continues. I know is nothing serious but i wanna know if i should worry about hardware problems

Hi,

I possibly think its an issue with Windows Media Player not being able to catch up with the current hardware. Try using some other media player like VLC and check if that resolves the issue. You can get VLC from Filehippo.

Ill check that and comeback to you. Anyway is that a possibility? and what you mean its not able to catch up with hardware?

The problem is that WMP still uses some old algorithms at its core for video rendering and that is one of the reasons it doesn't support some of the latest codecs. These old algorithms are mostly either not compatible or not optimized to work with the latest hardware causing such issues.

It does the same in VLC. Its pretty random i can watch a whole movie without it but it worries me.

Did you try updating the driver for the video card ? That might resolve it.

It definitely has to be a software issue. If updating doesn't work, try installing a couple of previous versions of the driver and see if that resolves the issue.

Yeah also i did the recent nvidia drive update too. I think it might be solved but today i had a whole system hic up even thought is not doing the video only one.

I take that back after the driver update is still happening
