HI
I have researched this problem and sadly have nit come to an answer
The problem is with listening to live streams with wmp, whenever I connect to a stream(whether it is live or not) the media player connects to the media then stays at ready. from what I have researched it is a networking problem well it would be but this does not happen with my other computers in my house. The media player was working a yesterday then suddenly stopped when i woke up this morning.

so far i have attempted to solve this by:
restarting
restarting router
deleting /appdata/local/Microsoft/mediaplayer
updating and re installing media player plugin for chrome and firefox

the same streams work with the mp3 player option
any help is welcomed
thank you

here is the site i am having trouble with:

Everything seems to be up to date with both chrome and firefox, I also installed the vlc player hoping that it would load the media player, but even that does not work, but still works on every other computer in the house on the same website

when using internet explorer and try to open the stream i get this error:

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported. If you typed a URL in the Open URL dialog box, try using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:" or "rtsp:").

and when i do enter rtsp instead of http, it does open realplayer, but hangs at "connecting"

If you want to continue using wmp as your default player, you should do the following. Start->Default Programs

From here you can associate what types of files you want with a certain program. Such as autoplay, associate a type of file type with a program, and etc. See if that works for you.

And retry with internet explorer.
