Windows movie maker

I had Windows movie maker on my old laptop and I loved it so when I went out and got my new laptop with windows 8 I downloaded it but now it wont burn my movies to a disc.. I've tried two different kinds and nothing will ever happen. please help!!!!

is the laptop drive dvd or cd or cd/dvd?. is the drivers up to date also?
