Windows no longer detects my graphics card

When I check BIOS no graphics card is detected, only Intel Integrated. When checking Direct X Diagnostics all fields read either N/A or Unavailable. There is not an option for display devices in device manager either. It happened this afternoon when my wife tried to hook up a second monitor. The computer is an Alienware m17x and has a Nvidia 980m. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
