Apologies if this isn't the correct place to ask this, in which case point
me in the right direction...
My employer runs Win NT4 SP6 on all of its PCs and has also installed VNC on
all of its PCs.
We're allowed (with company permission) to do internet banking during
company time (along with other "essential" personal use) and I'm wondering
how I can tell if my manager is "spying" on me using VNC to view my screen
when I'm working, or - legitimately - viewing my bank details. How can I be
certain (or at least know, so I can close the webpage) if and when I'm being
VNC'd to?

You should see the vnc icon in the system tray turn a different colour when
a 'session' is in use...Which flavour of VNC is it?
