Just installed a new CD drive after removing the old one.
When windows begins to load the blue screen comes up and
gives me an IRQL/ HAL error and quits working. All I can
do is reboot which results in the same thing.
Not sure what to do about this.
Any help?

Sounds like the cdr has taken the drive letter that was your boot partion,
if you can boot to dos from a floppy and your system disk is FAT then you
can edit the boot.ini file to look in the location the boot files will be
now.
