windows on external HDD

I have a laptop provided by my office which has 6500u cpu, i think fairly good to some low end video games sometimes. I shouldnt be installing many softwares unrelated to office work so I was planning to buy a 1TB External shock proff HDD, connect it to laptop and install a windows on it by booting it. Then install games on it and run.

Technically it will work but I was wondering if anyone has done this? because there might be a performance issue as this time data is being transmitted using USB port.

Yes the USB ports works and I have access to BIOS, its just that i dont want to install extra things on the Windows provided by company.

Yet, you will need to try that and see if you will be satisfied with the performance. (boot and loading times)

Make sure it is a USB 3.0 drive. (your laptop should support that as well)
