Windows photo gallery - error prevents changes to photo being saved

Hello,
I am trying to save a photo after cropping it and getting the error message 'an Error is preventing photo gallery from saving this picture'.
I am using Windows Vista
Can anyone tell me how to resolve this?

Knowing where the original photo is could be a clue, if it's on disk that is "read only" like a cd or dvd, then you can't save to that location, or it could be that the file itself is set as "read only".
Try choosing save as instead and pointing it to your "My Pictures" folder on your local hdd, also try changing the file name that you are saving to.
