I did a clean new install of Windows 10(no update from 7 or 8) and I really miss the Windows Picture viewer.
If I rightclick on a jpg file it isnt available as an option as an default program, but If I rightclick on a NEF file(Nikon raw file) I'm able to choose it as a default app.
The pciture viewer's exe file is located in the system32 folder as dllhost.exe, but it isnt possible to just start the exe file.

So how do I get the pciture viewer to be available in the option to choose default program for jpg?

Solution
You need to enable it via the registry.
You can follow this guide:
https://www.howtogeek.com/225844/how-to-make-windows-photo-viewer-your-default-image-viewer-on-windows-10/
Scroll down to 'Step One: Enable Photo Viewer in the Registry' and follow on from there.
