Windows Randomly Freezing (Unsure of what part is causing it)

Ever since I upgraded my system (specs below), it is randomly freezing and preventing me from interacting with apps or games. All visuals freeze, but I can still get some audio for a few seconds until that freezes as well in some programs. I tried doing a fresh install of Windows twice, and unplugging my hard drive as well. I tested each RAM stick in slot 1, but the system still freezes. I am putting this in motherboard issues because this seems most likely to be a motherboard issue from my experience, but I am still unsure.

Intel i5-4690k
MSI GTX 980 Twin Frozr
Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1333 (2x8)
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
MSI Z97 Gaming 5

Upgrade:
Ryzen 5 1600X
Cryorig H7
Corsair Vengeance DDR4-3000 (2x8)
Gigabyte AB350 Gaming 3

I'm sorry, I don't know what you are asking. I am able to get into Windows.
